What is a HEIC file?
HEIC stands for High Efficiency Image Container — Apple's default camera format since iOS 11 (2017). It uses the HEIF compression standard to produce images roughly 50% smaller than equivalent JPGs, without any visible quality loss. Your iPhone has been shooting HEIC for years without you noticing.
The catch: the rest of the world hasn't caught up. Windows requires a paid codec to open HEIC natively. Android ignores it. Most web apps, email clients, and social platforms expect JPG. That's the gap this tool fills.
Why convert HEIC to JPG?
- →JPG opens everywhere — Windows, Android, Linux, web, email — without extra software.
- →Social platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn prefer or require JPG.
- →Design tools (Figma, Canva, Photoshop) handle JPG natively without plugins.
- →Sharing with non-Apple users becomes friction-free.
- →Older devices and cameras only shoot JPG — consistency matters in mixed libraries.
Common questions
- What is a HEIC file?
- HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is Apple's default photo format since iOS 11. It produces roughly half the file size of JPG at similar quality — but most platforms, apps, and browsers don't support it natively.
- Why convert HEIC to JPG?
- JPG is universally supported. Windows, Android, Google Photos, most social platforms, and email clients all handle JPG natively. If you've ever sent an iPhone photo that wouldn't open on a PC, HEIC is the reason.
- Is my photo stored anywhere?
- No. Files are processed in memory on our server and deleted immediately after conversion. We don't log, store, or analyse your images.
- Why only 10 conversions per day?
- HEIC conversion is compute-intensive. The 10/day limit keeps the tool free and fast for everyone without runaway server costs. Resets every 24 hours.
- What's the file size limit?
- 10MB per file. Most iPhone HEICs are 3–6MB, so you should be fine.
- Does this work on Windows?
- Yes — entirely in the browser. No software to install. Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android.
